- Gewürztraminer - France, Alsace
- Riesling - France, Alsace
Off to Alsace to hand-harvest the region's two flagship grape varieties. Riesling and Gewurztraminer blend perfectly, but are not alike. The former is bright and lively, while the latter is exuberant and opulent. Complementary, they oppose each other to display their strong personalities with great precision.
To enter the Zone Orange world of wine, it takes skill and attention to detail. After de-stemming, each grape variety is fermented separately with indigenous yeasts in open barrels. The perfect opportunity to reveal their unique character. After 15 days' maceration, the wines are run off and the pomace pressed using a small ratchet press. The 2 wines are then blended and aged in stainless steel tanks until bottling, which took place in the spring of 2023 without prior filtration. From start to finish, this wine is made using 100% gravity, resulting in the production of 480 50cl bottles.
Taste
This is a wine that will leave no one indifferent, from its deep, golden color to its pleasant oxidized notes throughout the tasting. It gives off aromas of green apple, walnut, exotic fruit and sweet spices. Surprising... and these sensations linger on the palate. Balanced and greedy, it surprises and seduces with its delicate tannins that structure the whole, as does its persistence. Interesting and intriguing.
Open it an hour before serving to allow it to express all its complexity. To be drunk within two years, it will be equally at home with strong cheeses or the sweetness of apple pie.
